Genetic Counseling
WHAT TO KNOW
There are various reasons why a patient or a couple may be referred for genetic counseling. Some of the most common reasons are:
Advanced maternal age
In depth discussion of various genetic testing or screening
Family history of a genetic disease
Discuss concern about potential consequences of various exposures such as medications or various other substances to the health of the baby
Discuss potential implications of some ultrasound findings as they may be part of a syndrome
Our Personalized Approach
In most facilities, genetic counseling is done over the phone and by various counselors. At the Princeton Perinatal Institute, as part of our commitment to providing personalized and individualized care, every effort will be made for our patients to receive face-to-face counseling. Results will be communicated by one counselor who has already met you, established a rapport, and earned your trust.
